Players arrive to take the field in anticipation of an enjoyable game

Long awaited competition gathering for the local soccer enthusiasts as the weather clears to a bright and sunny Monday afternoon for a kick off at 1800.

Rostered duty helper
Duty helpers setting up fields

As we are all in it together, early arriver’s set up the four fields. A duty roster is provided to ensure the equal share of set up, pull down and refereeing responsibilities.

Pre game sign in procedures

Before players take the field there are a few procedures to assist organisers. There are registrations, insurance and fees to be addressed and checked by designated team captains. By checking the latest draw that is displayed on the notice board outside the field sports shelter, team members will find their allocated field of play.

Shin protection guards are mandatory

Shin pads are mandatory for all players that wish to participate on the field. It is quite a ritual as players discuss their playing positions and upgraded tactics to execute.

Pregame stretches are advised

Once tactics and positions have been decided the preparations begin with the obligatory stretchering exercises.

Donna Anderson Time keeper

As 6:00 pm strikes, the starting siren heralds the commencement of a 20 minute first half. There is usually a one minute warning siren as well.

Fancy footwork

Nice to see well rehearsed set plays executed during the game. Usually played with 5 tactical positions and a goalkeeper. In the mixed games, the girls will eagerly show their skills against tough opponents.

Postmortems and licking of wounds

Post-mortem activities are just as interesting as pre game tactics. Encouragement from all around leaves players impatiently wanting to take their next 40 minutes on the field to further try their newly found successes and skills.

Donna Anderson would like to thank all players for their eager and fair play, involvement and co-operation with duties. Any interested new players contact Donna Anderson at the Jindabyne field next Monday before 6:00pm kick off. It is Interesting to note that the oldest player to take the field (and is not so easily outmanoeuvered) this season in a 70 year old.
