The resorts will soon open fully and many locals will remember their days as Snow Sport Instructors and staff who now feel relieved that they are no-longer under those inflicted pressures from the resorts and local businesses. When the Snow Sport Instructors and relative seasonal staff hit town, Accommodation is short, the season is short. So it may well be that its the locals turn to revisit the difficulties of the past that show that those difficulties are still present. The traveling instructors and related seasonal staff, will still struggle with promised accommodation and remuneration shortfalls. The question remains… Will the locals now continue the shortfalls that they experienced and be disciples of that abuse or will they have the courage to make a difference ?
Will that ever be seen as staff abuse and will it ever be seen enough and reported to encourage change ?
Seems like a pretty cushy job to me. Ski around all morning, perving on the young things bums and getting hammered every night at the Brumby or LJH.
it’z not az easy as that Jambo. The instructors are required to travel from their over priced share accommodations scramble up the hill, report in, set up, and line up all before the punters arrive no matter the weather conditions. If the instructor is a newby, then he or she gets allocated a bus load of beginners to be introduced to the slush. The fluffy stuff are for the elite instructors. That’s just before the actual day begins…. If i continue with my response and tell my story of a day in a life of an instructor, then it might discourage others to take up a position as a snow sport instructor.
Please… I would love you to write a post and share your story about the reality of “A Day in The Life of a SnowSport Insrtuctor”.
